Production ramp-up, new F2 and CT aircraft shipped

Flight Design

September 15th 2023, Eisenach Germany - Flight Design general aviation, the European manufacturer of the F2 and CT series of aircraft reports that the first 2 production F2-LSA models from the new Sumperk factory are now heading to US Importer, Airtime Aviation in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Flight Design holds over 100 aircraft orders and now expects production to increase to 4 F2 aircraft per month, by the end of calendar 2023.

As a result of support from majority shareholder, the LINDIG Group, full production at the Flight Design facility in Sumperk, Czech Republic has increased. “The kind and timely support from the Lindig Group, the staff in Sumperk and Kherson has made this possible. It takes a lot of commitment to create and sustain an aviation business” said Daniel Guenther, CEO of Flight Design general aviation. “We thank everyone involved, our staff, our dealers worldwide, and especially Sven Lindig. He has stood beside us through the most difficult times,” said Daniel.

Exciting news regarding the FAA MOSAIC project was announced at the recent EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, and Flight Design is well positioned to benefit from these changes with the F2 series. “The F2 in its current S-LSA form can carry a much larger payload,” said Tom Gutmann, owner of Airtime Aviation. “We expect to increase the payload of the new F2-LSA aircraft that are now being delivered under MOSAIC and think there’s even more that can be done within MOSAIC”.

The F2-CS23 is approved as an EASA type-certified general aviation aircraft in Europe and the validation process of that type certificate has progressed with the FAA. It is expected that the F2- CS23 will be popular with flight schools and in rental fleets.

Good news as well for the very popular CT Series: The first 4 CTLS have been completed from airframes secured from the Ukraine factory in Kherson and handed over to customers in Europe. Completion of such airframes will go on until end of year and then will move to production of new airframes by a manufacturing partner.

Work also continues with the Flight Design F4, the 4-seat version of the F-series. The F4 is an enlarged version of the F2, with a Rotax 916 turbocharged powerplant and room for four adults. The F4 is nearing the prototype stage of development after passing a design review earlier this Summer. The F4 uses many of the systems and tools built for the F2, making the development cycle shorter.
