Atting, March 2022 – Europe’s Aviation Authority EASA has granted German propeller manufacturer MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH a supplemental type certificate (EASA STC 10078671 R2) for the installation of their 3-blade propeller MTV-12-D/188-59( ) with new scimitar blades on aircraft of the Cessna FR 172 () series.



Scimitar blades are a distinctive feature of MT Propeller’s new prop for the Cessna FR172 series.

According to MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht, the installation features the following advantages:

- Best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operations
- Bonded on stainless steel leading edge for best erosion protection of the blades
- Take-off distance slightly improved
- Up to 2 kg (5 lbs) less weight than the original propeller
- Unlimited blade life
- Increased ground clearance for less blade tip erosion
