New AOPA Safety Letter
AOPA Germany’s latest Saftey Letter deals with the subject of spatial disorientation. It’s a known fact that humans are “VFR beings“ only. . The senses we use to keep our balance, that are enabling us to tell up from down, are utterly useless when our body is in motion and without any reference to the environment.
If and when a pilot loses sight of outside objects in flight, he or she can easily lose control of the aircraft and succumb to one of General Aviation’s most a lethal dangers, spatial disorientation.
